Bookshelf, Resources & Favorite Things

*To HSPs With Love*

This page is near & dear to my heart. It’s where I’ll on*goingly share books that I love, valuable resources & “things” that bring me comfort, joy, relief & delight! It’s my hope that these gems will also support you - so you’ll be able to grow/blossom/thrive & truly enjoy the mysteries & magic of this thing called LIFE - & celebrate the beautiful gift of your High Sensitivity!

Whenever possible, I like to shop locally & support small businesses in my community. I realize, however, for a variety of reasons, that shopping on Amazon is easy-peasy. So - I’ll link several of my suggestions to Amazon’s website. But please do not forget about your lovely, local shops & their owners/employees. (I’m not an affiliate with Amazon or anyone else.)

Isn’t the image below the cutest EVER?!?! Be still my beating heart. Meow!

Books:

{This will eventually become an annotated list, but for now, here are some of my favorite titles - that I think you’ll enjoy too! They’re mostly books about high sensitivity - as well as books on personal development. I’ll sprinkle in a few others that deeply stir my soul.}

The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle

Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert

Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman

The Empath’s Survival Guide by Judith Orloff, M.D,

The Highly Sensitive Person by Elaine Aron, PhD

The Highly Sensitive Person’s Workbook by Elaine Aron, PhD

Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke

Quiet by Susan Cain

Sacred Hoops by Phil Jackson

Wherever You Go, There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Any book penned by the one & only Anne Lamott. She’s a true American (& worldwide) Treasure!

I also highly recommend the poets, Mary Oliver & May Sarton.

Any book by Thich Nhat Hanh; his writing & thinking are sublime.

Resources:

Present Not Perfect (A Journal) by Aimee Chase

The 52 Lists Project by Moorea Seal

More resources to come!!

Favorite Things:

Here I’ll list items that make life much easier for me as an HSP as well as some items/ideas that simply bring me joy! I would love to hear your “favorites” too! (Obviously, I love creating lists. They’re a great way for me to ‘download’ my very full HSP brain!)

For Inspiration:

Spirit Cats (oracle cards by Nicole Piar), Kitten Chops Tarot Cards, original art, gemstones, really long walks all by myself, journaling

To Create a Soothing Ambience:

Candles, meditative & healing music (one beautiful selection), meditation cushions (Amazon has a plethora of options), aromatherapy (a delightful possibility), a sparkling clean & extra tidy home (I can dream; right?!), lovely linens/bedding, earplugs (super important; Mack’s are my faves!)

For My Body:

Gentle lotions & potions, soft/cozy blankets, jammies & socks (the softer, the better!) - It’s okay to occasionally wear cute jammies in public; yes?! Also: hot stone massages & pedicures.

Special Treats:

See’s Candy, carrot cake, tea, a meal with a dear friend. A road trip, an uncrowded library, beautiful church/cathedral &/or museum. Being in the mountains or a forest, communing with cats (all kinds) & animals in general,

Well, there you have it - many of my favorite things! btw: I very recently watched The Sound Of Music which I hadn’t seen in a long, long time. It’s such a beautiful & heartwarming movie. Ohh; maybe I should create a movie list as well; lol! To Sir With Love will most definitely make the cut!! And All The President’s Men [sic], Annie Hall, Chariots of Fire, Chocolat, Dead Man Walking, Erin Brokovich, Manhattan, Ordinary People, Pretty in Pink, Silkwood, Spotlight, To Kill A Mockingbird, You’ve Got Mail, etc.

Please continue to take very good care of your extra special HSP self. Reach out any time with comments &/or questions!

Much Love. XO

Mary; TSS
